First of all, lets be real for a moment. Any human being can instantly tell that this watch is a beauty. From my experience wearing it, the Seiko Presage SSA385J1 is an extremely versatile. I wore it with blue denim, it looked beautiful. I wore it with a suit, it looked beautiful. I changed the bracelet and placed a black leather strap, and wore it with a tuxedo, and that’s right, it looked beautiful.

As a limited edition, there are only 7000 pieces of this watch made for the entire world. The Seiko Presage SSA385J1 has an amazing blued steel seconds hand, which pops in the white of the winter landscape of japan inspired dial. It has fairly simple complications, the time (obviously), the date and a power reserve indicator.

Seiko did a great job polishing the two inner bracelet links to give the timepiece a gorgeous shine. The crown is very handsome looking with its cocktail glass shape, sporting the Seiko’s ‘S’ on its face. It is an automatic timepiece that can be manually wound with a hacking seconds feature, with power that last for approximately 40 hours as shown on the power reserve indicator. It is accurate to +45/-35 seconds a day, +8/-1 when you wear it.

It uses a deployment clasp with two push buttons to release, and is resistant to 50 meters depth of water. Its 40.5mm in diameter and 14.4mm thick. It’s dial is protected by the domed hardlex crystal. This specific Presage series was inspired by cocktails created by Hisashi Kishi, the head bartender at the Star Bar in Tokyo’s Ginza area. The dial was inspired by his Fuyugeshiki (winter scene) cocktail. It can be bought for around $530-$570.

Seiko (not trying to be bias) is a great company. They create everything from scratch and have a department for everything. All their movements are in-house even in their cheapest watches. Did you ever own a Seiko before?
