Inspired by Philippe Stern’s regulator wall clock and originally launched in white gold in 2011, the new 5235r in rose gold is a refresh model launched in 2019. This watch is all about accuracy, and it sure is fool proof! It is very simple to read, and is very pleasing to look at.

Let’s start with the dial, since this is the Patek Philippe ref. 5235 is the first regulator wristwatch. The largest hand in the center of the dial is the minutes hand. Above that at 12 o’clock is the hours hand, and below at 6 o’clock are the seconds hand with the date window. At approximately 2 o’clock you can see the month display window and at approximately  10 o’clock you have the day of the week display. Pretty simple!

The 5235 is an innovative piece of haute horology, and it’s purpose is not only to provide you with easy and accurate timekeeping, but also house a great deal of mechanical parts to provide so. It is all housed in a 40.5 in diameter, 10mm in height 18k rose gold case, and it is water resistant to 30 meters, but I would not recommend putting it in water or anywhere near it to avoid spoiling the beautiful matte finished hand stitched alligator strap with it’s gorgeous buckle.

All this accuracy doesn’t come by sorcery or witchcraft, it is all thanks to the innovative caliber 31-260 REG QA, which features an off-center 22 carat yellow gold mini rotor in the movement that features Patek Philippe’s Pulsomax escapement, Gyromax balance and Spiromax balance spring. This watch is Patek Philipped sealed and has the accuracy of +3/-2 seconds per day. It has a power reserve no less than 38 hours and no more than 48 hours. It by all means is a good everyday watch.

Considering how unique this watch is, it truly is one of a kind. I think Patek Philippe did a great job with it, especially when it comes to the dial! What do you think of the 5235r, and the 5235 lineup in general? If you own one, please do share your story about it down below!
